Setting Up to Capture Stats

Team Setup

Tp the Capture Stats button on the Home page

On the Team Page, tap NEW

Enter your player # & name, team name, league, level of play, gender and tap SAVE

Match Setup

On your team row, tap the Matches button

Tap the New button

Enter your Match info.

Game setup

Tap the G1 button to setup your first Game

Choose the following:

Your serve or opponent's serve
Starting Rotation
US or International rotation numbering convention
More info -Rotation Numbering Rules

Then tap Lineup Setup - for your first setup you'll use New Lineup. Later you can pick from a prior Lineup

Enter a descriptive name for you lineup so that you can identify and use it again later

Tap Setter 1 to add your setter. If you use two, tap Setter 2 and add the second setter. Tap the rotations where each setter is the primary setter. This will be used to automatically assign Assists for Kills.

Tap Libero 1 to add your Libero if you use one. If you use two, tap Libero 2.

Assign servers to each rotation. Remember Rotation 1 is NOT necessary the first server. More info -Rotation Numbering Rules

Tap Starters and Sub.

Drag your starters into the left two Active columns. Drag subs to the middle two columns.

Tap Save.

Capture stats

On the Setup page, tap Capture

Below is the Main Capture screen. To stat, tap the player, then on the next screen the action.

Two keys to Fast Stats:

Use your thumbs like texting
Place key players under your thumbs
Gain muscle memory and stat "heads up"

libero "shortcut" button

If you use a Libero, he/she may be in any of six Active player locations (blue buttons). Since they Libero touches the ball often, we have created a fixed Libero button location. When you tap this button, it will select active Libero regardless of location.

After you tap the Libero button, you can quickly tap again for the Dig. We've placed the Dig button in the same location as the Libero button, on the In-Rally Stat screen.

Think about locating your most active players in the lower buttons
If you use a “standard” offense where H1, H2 and Libero receive the serve, consider the locations on the right
Make it easy to tap your key players by placing in the lower buttons

In this example, the Middles are at the middle. The Libero has subbed for one of the Middles. The Setter and Oppo are in the top buttons.

Substituting PLayers

Tap the inactive player you want to bring on the court
Then tap on the active player you want to sub
In this example – #8 Defensive Specialist subs for #2 Outside Hitter

The substitutions are counted automatically

For convenience and as a reminder, place the Sub next to the Active Player the Sub will replace

Taking Stats

The Main Capture Screen has all the Starters, Sub, Score and game management buttons.
To Stat, tap the player who touches the ball, the screen change to one of three stat screens – Next Slide

Button Colors

Gray Buttons are In-Rally and don’t stop the play
- Tapping these will return you to the Main Capture Screen

Colored Buttons result in a Point
- Earned – Point Gain
- Faults – Point Loss
- Errors – Pont Loss
Tapping any of these will take you to another screen with more options

Serve Stats

Tap the Current Server – indicated by Red Dot on the Player matching Rotation #
Here it’s Rotation 4 and #4 who’s the server

Tap the Server and you get the Serve Stat Screen

REceive Stats

Opponent Serves
Tap the receiving player

Screen changes to Receive stats
Stat the Receive

rally stats

After Serve or Receive Stat, stat the Rally
Tap the player who touched the ball

Then tap
- In-Rally gray buttons or
- Rally Ending stats
  - Earned (green)
  - Faults (red)
  - Error (orange)

earned stats

Tap the action that ended the rally and earned a point

Spike – An aggressive swing kill.
Tip - The hitter makes a soft hit of the ball for a point. Typically using finger tips.
Dump - A soft hit (as opposed to a spike) or a low set over the net, typically by the setter, near the net that results in a point.
Down Ball Hit - An overhand hit made by a player while standing on the floor.
Block - When a player blocks a ball for a point. Use the Assist button after this stat.

error stats

Tap the action that ended the rally and loses a point.

Dump - A dump attempt that was out or in the net.
Tip – A soft spike attempt that was out or in the net.
Spike – A hit out or into the net.
Down Ball Hit – A standing hit that was out or in the net.
Whose Ball? – Two or more players attempting to play the same ball resulting in an error or untouched ball.
2nd Ball Return - A failed attempt to put the ball over the net on the second touch.
3rd Ball Return – A failed attempt to put the ball over the net on the third touch.
Free Ball Receive – An easy first ball receive error.
Block – A ball touched by a defensive player in a block attempt that resulted in a point for the offensive team.
Dig – A failed attempted by a defender to reach and control an opponent attacked ball (spike, tip, dump, downball hit).
Set – A poor set leading to an error by hitter or kill by opponent.

fault stats

Tap the action that ended the rally and loses a point.

Ball Handling – player made double contact or lift while attempting to play the ball.
Net – player illegally touched the net.
Under – player illegally crossed the center line under the net.
Over the Net – player illegally touched to ball across the net.
Out of Rotation – players overlapped or the team was not in the correct rotation.
Back Row Attack – A back row player attempted an attack in front of the 10 foot line.

set assist

If the designated setter set the ball that led to a kill, then the assist is automatic – see the Point Log
If someone other than the Setter set the ball, then enter the Kill. Then press the Assist button and the player.

block assist

The process is just like Set Assist
Enter one blocker – Player, Earned, Block
Then press Assist and the second player who blocked the ball

point log

The Point Log provides a play-by-play list of the action that you’ve statted
Tap the menu at the top right and select Point Log

Tap Capture to return

if you fall behind on stats

Don’t try to catch up. Instead make an adjustment to the score, who’s serving and the rotation, then continue
To make adjustments - Tap the Score or Rotation number

Reports and Insights

Accessing WebServices: Only on Android

From the Home Screen you can access:
- Reports – in depth stat reports from our servers
- Live Stat Broadcast for Coach and Fan Views
Click on the lower blue button

Reports
- WebReports formatted to fit on your phone
Live Broadcast
- Coach Stats – see stats being taken by your stat taker
- Fan Stats –broadcast stats live to parents, players and fans

Selecting Your device, team and match

Because you can link several devices to a single account, when you tap the Reports button, you will see a list of devices
Select the device which contains the team stat you want to view

The next page will show the Teams on the device
Tap the team you want to view

Choose what match you want to see

Select REports and Analyze

The first report will go to Analyze which allows you to look at performance by Rotation

Scroll to see more

Tap the menu on the right to select a different report. There are over 20 different report tables to choose from.

Coach Live Broadcast

Accessing Live Broadcast: only on android

From the Home Screen you can access:
- Reports – in depth stat reports from our servers
- Live Stat Broadcast for Coach and Fan Views
Click on the lower blue button

- WebReports formatted to fit on your phone
Live Broadcast
- Coach Stats – see stats being taken by your stat taker

Setup

If you have two devices, install SoloStats LIVE on both. Name each device differently and login to the same account.
To see the Stats from the device Not Taking Stats – in SoloStats LIVE:
Tap Live Broadcast

Select stat takers device

Select Team

Select Match

As stats are taken on the stat device, watch the updates on the Coach View Device
Switch between two different stat pages depending on what type of information you need
