SoloStats - Sync and Backup
Overview

We updated our SoloStats 123 and Live apps in August 2022 and changed the way Sync works. Sync is used to Download stats from WebReports to SoloStats. This happens either when you switch devices and move to a new one.

We have decided to offload all old stats from SoloStats to WebReports and only keep the latest season's team and stats. This was done for the following reasons:

Having a lot of old data slows down SoloStats
It also slows down the Backup process where you push a copy of your stats to WebReports
SoloStats is a stat capture app and not for analysis. We provide some basic stat info but if you are going back to look at old stats, it's much better to use WebReports.
Your mobile device is not the safest archive for data. Particularly tablets are easy to damage at a volleyball tournament.

There is also some confusion on how to use Sync and Backup.

Sync: this is available as a link in the Account dialogue. This will download existing team data from WebReports to your SoloStats app. It will then keep the data in sync (if changes are made on one device, they will be propagated to the other, and vice versa). You should only need to use this functionality if you don't have the team that you need to stat on your current device. This may be useful if you stat on multiple devices, are temporarily using a secondary device, or are moving to a new device.
Backup: as before, SoloStats attempts to upload all of your stats to the server in real-time. However, for a number of reasons, such as network issues, you might notice that there is some data that hasn't been uploaded. Backup will ensure that all of the data on your device gets uploaded to the WebReports cloud server.

Using Sync

The Sync feature in SoloStats 123 and SoloStats LIVE lets you move data collected on one device to another device. This is very useful when you forget your primary device (left your iPad at home) or are upgrading to a new device.

Device sync provides a complete copy of all the data from one device to another. When you click the “Backup” button you are saving all of your data to your WebReports account in the cloud. This new sync feature allows you to take everything from your WebReports account in the cloud and download it to your secondary or new device.

IMPORTANT NOTE: this is a one-way action -- from your WebReports account in the cloud to a secondary device.

Step-By-Step

TWO DEVICES HANDY

Ensure you have two (2) devices handy:
- Your primary device
- Your secondary device

PRIMARY DEVICE SETUP

- From your primary device, launch the SoloStats Live or 123 app
- Tap the Account button to ensure you are logged into your WebReports account

- Now, perform a “Backup” to ensure all of your latest data is in your WebReports cloud account
- Once the backup is complete, grab your secondary device

SECONDARY DEVICe setup

- Ensure you have the latest release of SoloStats Live or 123 on your secondary device
- From your secondary device, launch the SoloStats app

- Tap the Account button to ensure you are logged into your WebReports account - this determines the device list we present to you

sYNC SECONDARY DEVICE

- Within the "Account" dialog you will see a link just above the "Cancel" and "Log Out" buttons that says, “Sync data with another device”

- Click the “Sync data with another device” link
- A list of devices is provided - these are all the devices you have associated with your SoloStats account profile in the cloud

- Find the name of of your primary device in the list and touch/select that item
- Remember, this is the FROM device in your WebReports account that will put data on your TO device you are now holding in your hands

- Click the "Sync" button to begin the sync process
- Your secondary device will be backed up to ensure you do not lose any data on your secondary device
